Courtyard Marriott in Houston Heights

Objectives

Continuity was an integral part of this project design. The owner wanted the pavers around the hotel perimeter and pool to match the exterior walls. Permeable pavers were needed to alleviate drainage concerns as the hotel is located within the Houston flood zone.

Solutions

Segmental Pavers were utilized to integrate slopes and add in water runoff drainage. The selected pavers addressed the practical aspects of the design, while achieving the desired aspects the hotel owners were looking for. Another great feature of this project was using contrasting pavers to identify handicapped reserved parking. This followed ADA compliance while maintaining the overall design aesthetic.

Results

The hotel owner was ecstatic with the results and noted the paving system is well-received by hotel guests. Each exterior space utilized a similar color scheme. The hotel parking lot, the sidewalk, and the pool area used different patterns and a variety of paver cuts to create a unique and intriguing space for guests outside the hotel.
