Character-Rich Manufactured Stone Offers Authentic Accents for Racing and Gaming Park

Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, owned and operated by Churchill Downs, offers both live horseracing and gaming machines, alongside simulcast racing, bars, restaurants, entertainment, and an event center. The 150,000-square-foot facility, located in Florence, Kentucky, was completed in the fall of 2022.

On the rear of the facility, an expansive wall of glass provides sweeping views of the racetrack. On the front, an eye-catching multi-textured façade combines wood-look siding with manufactured stone veneer for an authentic natural look and color scheme ideally suited to the surrounding terrain and agriculture.

Below the beckoning lights of Turfway’s signage, a manufactured stone half-wall grounds the massive façade while offering an authentic complement to the woodgrain above. The architects used the Mountain Stone Traditions profile from Lee Building Products in the rich Dale Hollow color. To continue the look, the manufactured stone was also used for authentic accents on other sides of the building, below entrance signage, and on other walls around the property.

The Mountain Stone manufactured stone veneer was developed from natural stone “masters” and turned into detailed molds with every unique feature from the natural stones, capturing nooks, crannies, fine sedimentary lines, dimples, and the defined chisel marks made by a master stonemason.
