Objectives
Located downtown by the railroad tracks, the Van Alstyne Central Social District Park was a long-awaited project the community was looking forward to. The site was designed to house a variety of celebrations, the ability to accommodate a concert stage, playground and splash pad.
Solutions
Terra Cotta pavers in a herringbone pattern are bordered by linear Holland Charcoal pavers to complete a clean and unique design. Adding to the overall look and texture of the landscape is a custom concrete railway that runs through the entire hardscape. The path of the railway can be followed to the park’s personalized splash pad. The splash pad, which has easily become a family favorite amongst visitors, was constructed using pedestal pavers in a circular paving pattern.
Results
After a highly anticipated wait of four years, the Central Social District Park honored the new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in April 2022 where Mayor Jim Atchison addressed the enthusiastic crowd, “It will be a great opportunity for people all over the community to come together and enjoy a lot of different activities,” he said.
Since officially opening to the public, the community and those visiting from out of town, have enjoyed the assortment of entertainment and activities that have since been housed at the park.
