Life Time Living Apartments

Objectives

The property manager wanted to ensure that the CMU used would seamlessly blend into the serene outdoor space they planned to develop after the building was constructed. The client aimed to create a harmonious design all while committing to environmental sustainability.

Solutions

To align with the apartment complex’s commitment to sustainability, Jandris Block worked closely with the project managers to ensure the incorporation of CarbonX Concrete Masonry Units (CMU). By choosing CarbonX CMU, the complex has successfully minimized cement consumption during manufacturing, leading to increased atmospheric carbon sequestration. Additionally, the unique composition of the CMU enables a reaction between ambient carbon dioxide and its components, effectively sequestering the carbon dioxide as calcium carbonate within the blocks. This groundbreaking approach transforms the CMU into a carbon sink, actively supporting the apartment complex’s sustainable initiatives.

Results

The installation of the CarbonX CMUs proved to be highly successful, resulting in a visually appealing and sustainably crafted apartment complex. Earth-tone CMUs including sandstone, muted forest green, and espresso brown, were incorporated to blend the complex with its natural surroundings. Lifetime Apartment’s interior walls were painted in the same shade as the accent sandstone CMUs to tie together the exterior and interior designs. The careful selection of CMU products contributed to the overall aesthetic unity of the building. The client was pleased with the cohesive and balanced beauty of the exterior, thanks to the thoughtful planning and the collaborative work of the installation and manufacturing team.
